Prescription Printing and Management Module - Available 1/1/2005 Announcing the first of many modules that will be available for the MOS. This module will enhance the drug tracking and allow full prescription management. A drug file with 200 of the most common drugs prescribed is installed. This basic file can then be modified with new drugs as necessary to fit your practice. Your current drug and prescription data will be converted to the new files if you are currently using that system. Each Provider may choose to allow prescriptions to be printed and password protect that access. Immunizations/vaccines are given as a prescription with a note as to the length of effectiveness. This would allow your practice to remind people when the vaccine should be renewed. Quick lists of vaccines are available in the Patient Data. This module also includes allergy history to allow the provider to verify that no allergies would affect the prescription to be ordered. Drug interactions are not included as part of this function, however, that is available from many sources and should be encouraged to be used to better protect your patients. Prescription forms can be ordered from Drug Package, Inc. (800) 325-6137, that will print on a standard laser printer. These were priced at approximately $565 for 14,000 forms in June 2004, that works out to about 4 cents a form. The Prescription module is licensed for $300 per year. That annual fee will provide for support and updates on the prescription module, including updates to the drug file. Reports and forms that are supported by this data, will be added as customers suggest needed documentation. The Patient History will include the new prescription/allergy information. Hardware Requirement: Laser Printer that will work with the MOS. Modules we are working on include: 1) Vital Statistics - Data base to record vital statistics - Export file for Excel to graph results - Quick reference on Patient Input Screen. 2) Document Storage - Database to manage document storage for moving paper records to electronic media. This would define a naming convention to be used to scan and store incoming documents to a folder. The folder would be processed and the names of the documents loaded in to a database that help you find and organize the files. Part of this system will include a means for the provider to attach a electronic signature for Medical Record storage. This will require Acrobat Adobe - full version, a scanner and adequate storage for documents. More on this soon. |
